So I drove to your house and we packed up the car.
Six bottles through the woods should drown this out.

...and we talked to the dark,
and breathed in the cold of the night,
and tried in vain to blow smoke out
through frozen lungs.

...but our hearts stopped short
when we turned around to see
the evening riding headless.

With the wind between our knees,
they knocked so hard.

We've worked at it our whole lives,
to get to the point of no return.
