Rolling blackouts across the city
A perfect way to complicate the evening.
Older sister figure with her mouth hung up in yours.
There's venom in her fangs from drinking earlier.
I wonder why I keep coming back.
The booze isn't that cheap,
And it always turns out bad.
Passed a monument to how the night shoulda', coulda' been.
I turned my back and ran, though you were barely breathing.
I'm sure your best friend's words will keep you from
chewing out your tongue,
But the arms you're hanging off aren't strong enough
to keep you from the ground.
And we'll all wonder what was going through your head,
Besides the last few shots and the need to feel wanted.
I've been in this house before, there are faces in the windows
mocking me.
They said, "You can't hold onto nothing. No, this never meant a thing."
And I guess that they're right. They've been watching the whole time.
So I'll ignore what I'm given and there's nothing you can say.
With how transparent I've been, life's been slipping through my fists.
Slipping through my fists, yeah.
There's nothing here for me except another way to tell myself that I'm empty, and now I'm emptier than ever.
Hearts lay in heaps on the floor next to our clothes.
If you listen, you can hear them cough and sputter a song.
What tangled ropes we've woven to hang our crooked necks by.
I thought I gathered all the pieces and I was stitched up,
but a seam's not what it seems or so it seems.
So, if you tug at me, here's just what you'll find:
a crumpled mass of leaves that I like to call my guts,
and a tiny ball of dirt that used to be my heart.

Two demos recorded in October of 2012. I tried self-recording with my computer microphone and it didn't really work out, but I haven't put out any music in forever.
Still, this is kind of cheating... It's only one new song... but... whatever!
The lead singer of punk band Camp Cope ventures into romantic synth-pop territory, tempering slick arrangements with bare sentiment.
